Teotitlan del Valle: Traditional Rug Weaving

While my sister and her family were here visiting we did all the sight seeing. These pictures are from the pueblito Teotitlan del Valle where they make traditional rugs. This lady gave us a great demonstration on how the wool is combed, spun, died, then woven into beautiful and elaborate rugs.

Here she is sitting infront of her spinning wheel and died skiens. The dyes she uses are all natural and are made from plants in the baskets on the floor infront of her.
