It´s a Beautiful day!

Saturday. Work day. argh. I really didn´t want to get up and hurry to the church building, but it turned out to be a great day. About nine brothers and sisters showed up. We cleaned up the front gardens and trimmed the ficus trees up to within reaching higth since we had no ladder. By the time 1:00 came around we were all pooped and ready to clean up. We sat around and ate a torta and chatted. It is so good to spend time with the brethren.

That afternoon we had promised to take the kids to the Llano park to ride bikes with Marisol´s daughter Karlita. We had just enough time to drive back out to the Tule, unload the work tools, and load up the bikes.

Marisol was late in arriving, but we were thuroughly entertained watching other children on the "rental cars". Someone makes a killing renting out those battery operated tike size cars. Two children in particular caught our eyes. A little girl around 4 years old, obviously from a small mountain village due to her attire. She wore a traditional outfit of a long dark skirt, a reboso (scarf) tightly wound around her waist, and a colorful silk blouse hand decorated with ribbons and embroidery. She had her hair in pony tails that were falling out, and her face was a toasted dark brown with rosy red cheeks. Her mother who was selling candies and gum, looked on from the park´s fountain while the two mischievous children rode around wildly on the electric truck. The two giggled and squealed as they chattered dialect back and forth to each other. The little girl , supposedly driving, would throw her hands up in the air and giggle as the truck swerved back and forth barley missing other children in their perspective "grown up" vehicles. When her older brother had enough of letting her "drive" he would run along and jump in the driver`s seat forcing her over to one side. It was something straight out of an "India Maria" movie. I sat there wishing I had taken along my camara, laughing so hard I almost fell off the bench where we sat. Once or twice they would swerve over our way and I would jerk Emi out of their path. Such innocence, purity, and friendship the two children showed. I can imagine that the children back in Jesus´time had that same innocence and purity. Children nowdays are loosing that all too soon. Lord, help us to keep the putiry and innocence of our children!

That night we were so tired, sunburned, and sore, but as I plopped into bed all I could do was praise our Lord for such a beautiful day!
